At our dental clinic near Perth located in South Perth, we participate in the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) which offers fundamental dental care to children from birth to 17 years old who meet eligibility criteria.
No application or registration is generally required for the CDBS. If your child qualifies, you'll receive a notification letter from Services Australia.
Your child is entitled to the CDBS if:
They are covered by Medicare.
They are aged between 0 and 17 for a minimum of one day in that calendar year.
Either you or your child receives an eligible payment at least once during that year.
CDBS covers $1,052 for dental services spread over two consecutive years. This limit is adjusted annually every 1st of January. The two-year duration commences when an eligible child or teen gets their first qualifying dental procedure.
The CDBS covers the following dental services:
The CDBS excludes orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry, and hospital-based dental procedures.
Specific limitations on services are detailed in the Guide to the Child Dental Benefits Schedule available on the Services Australia official site.
